Super Strength Saturday
Southern Muscle in Brandon hosted a spectacular event on Saturday, January 5, 2019! It was the last training session for the Specially Fit athletes who are competing in the Special Olympics 2019 Southeast Powerlifting Championship. The Southern Muscle employees and customers made this training session quite memorable for all in attendance! It was wonderful to see people in the community join together and encourage one another to be fit! A crowd of supporters cheered on the Specially Fit athletes as they warmed up, hit some comfortable sets, then attempted max lifts!
Simultaneously, many Southern Muscle customers bought raffle tickets in person and by phone! At least two customers bought raffle tickets for every Specially Fit athlete so that they could be entered in the PS4 drawing! Additionally, Anneliese Perez donated her own store merchandise to the Specially Fit athletes; she gave each of them a drawstring backpack with a shaker bottle, protein bar, and more!
Please send positive thoughts and vibes to the Specially Fit athletes as they make their final preparations for the Special Olympics 2019 Southeast Powerlifting Championship! The event will take place at the Cobb Civic Center in Marietta, Georgia on January 11-13, 2019. They are excited to represent the Specially Fit Foundation, as well as the state of Florida!
Eight Specially Fit Foundation athletes will show their strength at the competition. Christian, Greg, Jaden, John, Russell, and Terrell will face their competitors with the Deadlift and Bench Press. Ben and Shawn will compete in all three Powerlifting lifts: Back Squat, Deadlift, and Bench Press. As they show their strength on the competition platform, the Specially Fit Foundation athletes will be surrounded by a group of family, friends, supporters, and of course their coach, Marky Oliver.
Raffle tickets are still on sale to support the Specially Fit Foundation athletes! You can purchase tickets online via Venmo (speciallyfit), and you will receive an image of your raffle ticket. You decide which prize to put your ticket towards, either a Southern Muscle basket or the PS4. The Southern Muscle baskets are each valued at $150 and contain a variety of the following items: amino acids, protein, jump rope, t-shirt, local gym offers, and additional fitness products! The drawing will take place on Saturday, January 12, via Facebook Live, after the conclusion of the Special Olympics 2019 Southeast Powerlifting Championship.
Thank you for your support of the Specially Fit Foundation!
